"A few
well-designed movements, properly performed in
a balanced sequence, are worth hours of doing
sloppy calisthenics or forced
contortion."
-Joseph Pilates
Beginning Mat
This class will introduce you to
the five basic principles of Pilates. Through focused
practice of these principles, you will gain strength and
flexibility as well as greater body awareness and
control. Special emphasis is placed on proper alignment,
good use of breath, and the movements of the spine. This

repertoire of exercises to move your spine in all directions
and strengthen both the small muscles of stabilization and the
large muscles of powerful movements.

challenge, and greater biofeedback to your workout.

others. This class is appropriate for the intermediate
student, or the student who has developed good body awareness
through some private training.
