Welcome to Esteem Pilates. Magnificent changes await you.

How should I start?  What will my first visit be like?

There are five basic principles to the Pilates method. These principles are relevant to the most basic, as well as the most advanced, exercises. As well, each of us has our own unique posture, with all of its accompanying strengths and shortcomings. Fundamental to reaping the huge rewards Pilates has to offer, is learning about YOUR body and focusing your work and attention where it is most beneficial for you. Your instructor will help you develop your relationship with your body and your understanding of what it needs. Soon you will find yourself standing with better posture and using better mechanics that make the most of your developing strength.

At Esteem, we recommend at least three private sessions to learn the basic principles and begin to gain an understanding of your body's needs. You can do your intro package with a senior instructor or an associate instructor, depending on your particular needs and goals.

A Senior instructor has more experience and training in working with sensitive populations....those with injuries or those with special health concerns like osteoporosis or pregnancy. An Associate instructor has full training on all pieces of equipment and is qualified to work with a varied population. See instructor bios for a full description of specialized training each trainer has pursued.

Please arrive 10 minutes early for your first appointment. There will be a short form to fill out. You and your instructor will go over your injury history prior to your postural analysis. You'll want to dress comfortably. The better your instructor can see your body, the better they will be able to guide you and assess your needs. Shoes are generally not worn while doing Pilates, unless you have a history of foot complications. Once your instructor has an understanding of your posture, you begin to learn the five basic principles of Pilates, as well as what you need focus on to get the best results from your exercises.

If you have any questions, or you would like to schedule your first appointment, please contact us by phone or email.
